Introduction 

In this privacy policy, 'we', 'us', and 'our' refer to Nexus Health. References to our "services" include acupuncture, massage therapy, and any other healthcare-related service we offer. 'You' and 'your' refer to our current, former, and prospective patients. Your privacy and the confidentiality of your personal and health information are of the utmost importance to us. 

This policy explains what information we collect, how it is handled, and your rights regarding this information, in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and the Health Information Privacy Code 2020

 We only collect information that is necessary to provide our services to you. This may include:

  • Personal Details: Your name, contact details (address, phone, email), date of birth, and gender. 

  • Health Information: A detailed medical history, treatment notes, health assessments, and any information you provide about your condition. This includes information relevant to your acupuncture and massage therapy treatments.

  • ACC and Third-Party Information: Your Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) claim number and related details, or information from other healthcare providers involved in your care (with your consent). 

  • Billing Information: Details for processing payments for your appointments. 

  • Contact with Us: Records of your appointments and communications with us. 

How We Collect Your Information 

We collect information directly from you when you:

  • Complete a new patient intake form. 

  • Book an appointment online, by phone, or in person. 

  • Communicate with us via email, phone, or our website's contact form. 

  • During a consultation or treatment session. 

In some cases, we may collect information from third parties, such as ACC or another healthcare provider, but only with your explicit consent. 

How We Use Your Information 

Your information is used to:

  • Provide safe and effective acupuncture and massage therapy treatments. 

  • Maintain your clinical records. 

  • Communicate with you about your appointments and treatment. 

  • Process payments and manage your account. 

  • Comply with our legal and professional obligations, including reporting to ACC if applicable. 

  • Send you information about our services (you can opt out at any time). 

Disclosure of Information 

We will not share your information without your consent, except where required by law. We may disclose your information to:

  • Other healthcare providers involved in your care (e.g., your GP or a specialist), with your permission. 

  • ACC or your insurance company to process a claim on your behalf. 

  • Any person you have formally authorised to act on your behalf. 

Storage and Security 

We take all reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure. 

  • Your data is stored on secure servers, potentially through our clinic management or website hosting providers (e.g., Wix.com), who are bound by strict security standards. 

  • In line with the Health (Retention of Health Information) Regulations 1996, we are required to retain your health information for a minimum of 10 years from the date of your last visit. After this period, it will be securely destroyed. 

Your Rights 

You have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal and health information we hold about you. 

  • Request a correction to your information if you believe it is inaccurate.
